Evelien Boerkamp (29) has been working at ForFarmers since December 2023. She started as a Risk Controller and progressed to Internal Auditor.

“Before I joined ForFarmers, I worked at two accountancy firms. That's where I completed my training as a chartered accountant. I worked with large companies, many of which were listed on the stock exchange – I love that dynamic. When I was ready for a new step, I knew I wanted to join a large organisation, preferably one listed on the stock exchange. From a financial point of view, that presents interesting challenges. So, when I was approached for a role at ForFarmers, I was immediately enthusiastic. The position was a good fit, it was close to home, and I already knew some people here.”

What do you do as an Internal Auditor?

“I am involved in risk management, assessing processes and internal controls – both financial and non-financial. Where necessary, I advise on how to improve processes, manage risks and increase efficiency. Then I report on my findings. No two days are the same, and I love that.”

What energises you at work?

“The variety and complexity. And the fact that I work with colleagues from all kinds of disciplines. This makes the work not only interesting in terms of content, but also socially enjoyable. Beyond that, I feel at home at ForFarmers: a down-to-earth atmosphere, short lines of communication so you can easily interact with everyone, and great colleagues.”

Why do you work ‘For the Future of Farming’?

“I don’t have an agricultural background, but I’m impressed by how dynamic this sector is. ForFarmers takes real responsibility in this area, including in the field of sustainability. In my role, I contribute to this by ensuring that our internal processes are reliable and efficient.”
