May 2022

This past month has flown by! I’ve been working on several projects over the past couple of months and these have continued into May – Including an insight into the North East, my placement project, and ongoing trials we have running for VIDA. It’s all certainly keeping me busy!

Visiting Pig & Poultry Fair

I had the opportunity to attend the Pig & Poultry fair earlier in the month, attending industry forums and meeting several of our customers. It was a brilliant chance to meet customers alongside Tim Sawyer, Young Animal Feed Manager. Whilst at the fair, I attended many of the industry forums to gain an insight into what’s happening in the wider industry, there were lots of great speakers – one, in particular, I found interesting was the AHDB pig outlook.

Learning from the team

I’ve been working with Pig Technical & Commercial Advisor, Sam Bradley, and Business Manager, James Hall on a new trial. The trial is on an outdoor until for one of our products in our VIDA range, really interesting to be back out on farm and learn from the team.

I’ve been topping up my knowledge of Excel, attending a training course on best practices, and increasing my know-how. This will greatly help in the projects I work on in the future.

Heading back to Harper Adams

Along with Pig Technical and Commercial Advisor and former Harper Adams placement student, Emma Slater we visited Harper Adams to meet with my placement mentor. A great chance to catch up on progress throughout the past year, and to run through my placement project in more detail. It was good to be back at Harper for the day!

Outside of work

I met up with my family in Cambridgeshire and made the most of my weekends relaxing! I’m looking forward to celebrating my 21st in a few weeks.
