Emily Morgan – Previous Placement Student and now Pig Account Manager.

“Having had no previous pig experience, the ForFarmers Pig placement was a great opportunity to try something new. The placement has given me a unique insight into how forward-thinking and data-driven the UK Pig Industry is, and as such I’m looking forward to learning more in my new role as a Pig Account Manager.

The ForFarmers Pig placement is a fantastic opportunity to see and understand the full supply chain from start to finish. It offers a balance between office tasks and time on farm whilst giving you every opportunity to make the role your own. The ForFarmers Pig team are friendly and supportive giving you the confidence and support to exceed.

As can be seen by three placement students returning to graduate roles, the ForFarmers placement provides real opportunity to progress your career in a role which is suited to your passion.”

Sian Southwell - Previous Placement Student and now ForFarmers Retail Account Manager

“As Europe’s leading animal feed manufacturer, with a key presence in the agricultural industry, ForFarmers placement scheme provided an invaluable opportunity. Coming from a non-farming background, I had little knowledge of the pig industry, but this soon developed into a passion during my placement. I gained a real insight working with different ForFarmers teams including finance, customer services, on farm sales and operations at the mill. This not only expanded my skills but put me in good stead for my return to ForFarmers.

After graduating from Harper Adams University, I re-joined ForFarmers in January 2020 as a Retail Account Manager, predominantly looking after our more traditional farmers to find ways to improve our service and offering to this segment. Applying for the ForFarmers scholarship was the best decision I made, and to be able move around the business makes this placement unique and more of a reason to apply to ForFarmers!”

“Agriculture is an increasingly exciting career for young people. Given ForFarmers’ unique position in the agricultural supply chain, we offer a different perspective on the industry and scholars can gain experience in both pig nutrition and the pig industry.

This robust programme allows the scholar to work with both large- and small-scale farmers, with very different systems, and gain a high level of technical knowledge.”
