A bit about me

Hello, I am Josephine Adams. Currently, I am undertaking studies in Agricultural Business Management at Harper Adams University. At the age of 20 years old I am pleased to be completing a year’s placement at ForFarmers.

Coming from a 150 cow dairy and 300 acre arable farm in Shropshire sparked my interest in the ruminant nutrition sector. My awareness that agriculture is at the forefront of the public conscience has fed my hunger to develop my understanding within the animal nutrition industry.

I am excited to start my journey with ForFarmers and looking forward to the opportunities and challenges that I will face over the coming year.

I have played netball throughout my school years and during my time at university and as a result have strengthened my teamwork and communication skills. I hope my skillset will aid my journey with ForFarmers in the months ahead and I look forward to learning new skills and experiencing new challenges.

The ruminant placement and my goals

Never did I believe that I would be worthy of winning a scholarship alongside a placement at a hugely successful European company. I was privileged enough to be offered the placement with ForFarmers.

ForFarmers is not just focused on feed so I am looking forward to experiencing all aspects of the business especially gaining more knowledge about the formulation of dairy cow diets. I am hoping to gain a good insight into ruminant nutrition by shadowing Account Managers out on farm. It be interesting to review ration formulations and how they are tailored to suit the needs of a herd and align with the farmers goals. I would love to be able to formulate a diet in the future.

Confidence is key within this industry and that is one personal goal I would like to develop this year at ForFarmers. Not only for customer facing opportunities but also meeting internal colleauges across the business.

I look forward to my year ahead at ForFarmers and you can join me along the way by reading my monthly blog.
