I ended my time in marketing on a high with the completion of the National Pig and National Egg & Poultry Awards, with ForFarmers being the principal sponsor of the National Pig Awards. My time with the marketing team was insightful, although the events were in a ‘virtual’ format, I was involved behind the scenes and it was rewarding to see all of the hard work across the pig and poultry industry being celebrated. I even got dressed up for the event and raised a glass of prosecco to the winners!
I’m not saying goodbye to marketing completely- utilising my newly formed skills, I continue to develop external communications for ForFarmers’ growing social media channels. I have even been practising my interviewing skills by composing a ‘meet the team’ article.
I have now transitioned to the technical team, where I’m learning lots about the various feeds within the ForFarmers range. I have been supporting the team’s extensive research, including reviewing creep feeding, pre-lactation diets, and preparing for the zinc ban in 2022.
Planning is continuing for an exciting trial which I’ll share with you soon! One of the biggest challenges I’ve found has been putting together a protocol which works both practically, and benefits all parties, alongside producing an informative assignment for my studies. Although, working on this has been one of my most rewarding projects to date.
