Werken bij ForFarmers

June 2021

June, the best month yet!

This month I’ve been out on farm, supporting our latest VIDA trial, weighing, and weaning piglets weekly and into our office in Bury where I had the opportunity to meet more colleagues from various departments.

The coversation around Zinc

During my time in marketing, I worked on a project to increase awareness of the June 2022 Zinc removal deadline and the role ForFarmers is playing in supporting customers through this transition. It’s been great to see this campaign come to life on the ForFarmers Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram pages. Have you spotted them? < click the links to join us.

Taking responsibility

I had the opportunity to lead a virtual refresher session with our pig team on NOVA PreLac, our transition feed for sows. I was a first for me but I thoroughly enjoyed it and it gave me a huge confidence boost! I learned the importance of managing timings in a meeting, and how to get everyone involved in the discussion. I was thrilled to see positive actions come out of the meeting.

Getting behind the scenes

I’ve also been on a tour of Bury mill! I saw how our feed is manufactured, from sow nuts, piglet feed and even rabbit feed! Did you know that ForFarmers produce flamingo feed?

I also joined one of our drivers on a delivery which allowed me to understand the process followed when delivering feed to our customers.

Outside of work the month started in the best way possible, a week’s holiday in my favourite county, Cornwall enjoying all things Cornish, from pasties to cream teas. I’ve also been making the most of my work location in Suffolk with regular trips to the coast for an dip post work!

My penultimate month

July will bring more farm visits, as new trials begin - our performance trials never stop with VIDA! Whilst I start to bring my projects with ForFarmers to a close as the end of my placement year draws near.
