The Forage Sales will be responsible for supporting the Feed Sales teams within the allocated region both by telephone and farm visits.  This support includes offering ruminant livestock farmers advice on the correct selection and use of forage products and appropriate services.

Working alongside Ruminant Specialists, the Forage Sales Specialist will be accountable for the forage sales budget within the region, and will provide the  technical support and practical advice required by customers across the territory. 

The role is home based and requires good telephone and IT skills but will also involve travelling to farms across the  allocate area. The Forage Sales Specialist will ideally need to be Grassland BASIS and/or FACTS qualified, or willing to work towards these qualifications with company support.

Responsibilities

  • To be accountable for sales volumes and contribution within the allocated region in the core product areas of Seed, Fertiliser and Additives.

  • Drive marketing campaigns within allocated region of central England and North west

  • Providing cost-effective technical input within the sales area

  • Assist in knowledge transfer and development of forage skills amongst the local team

  • Represent the forage business on matters technical at team meetings and at local shows and events

  • Responsibility to develop and maintain knowledge of both sales and technical aspects of key product areas and product ranges

  • To work closely with the Forage Product Manager, to ensure technical accuracy and consistency across the business

  • To achieve and maintain necessary professional qualifications (BASIS and FACTS) by attending the appropriate courses

  • Attend technical events & courses  with guidance from the Forage Product Manager

  • Use of company CRM systems to develop and optimise further sales opportunities and aid the communication process

  • To own and drive sales of our forage portfolio taking responsibility for the forage budget

Role Requirements

  • Ideally degree level qualified in agriculture

  • Experience within a forage role would be considered as an alternative

  • Grassland BASIS and/or FACTS  qualified preferred

  • Excellent written English skills and an eye for detail is essential

  • Sales skills

  • Telephone sales abilities

  • Team player

  • Self-motivated, driven and proven track record in sales
