Kirsty Myatt, UK Digital Marketing Specialist (Ruminant)

Tell us a little bit about your background? How long have you been with ForFarmers?

I grew up on a working dairy farm in Staffordshire, so agriculture has always been in my blood. I completed a degree in Agri-Business at Harper Adams University in 2019, which included a placement year with a family-run animal supplement and nutrition company. After graduating I returned to this company for a few years, before joining ForFarmers as Digital Marketing Specialist in 2022.

What does your role involve?

The backbone of my role is looking after social media for the UK ruminant side of the business. This involves planning and creating content across our main channels which include Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram to support our campaigns.

In addition to this, I create the ruminant eNewsletters and I’m also responsible for any updates on our websites, including adding new web articles and creating new pages.

What does a day in your life look like?

A lot of planning normally! I normally like to plan content at least a week ahead across all our social media channels. However, it's also important that we are reactive to anything going on in the industry. So each day I keep up with the agricultural news and brief the team about anything that might be relevant to our campaigns.

I also spend a lot of time creating social media content, including Instagram Reels. This means I get to spend some time out on farm with Account Managers capturing my own content. Meeting our customers and hearing what they have to say helps bring the content I am creating to life and ensures that our campaigns stay relevant to our customers.

Why do you like working at ForFarmers?

For me, one of the best things is the team I work with. They are such a supportive and positive bunch, who are so committed to their roles and supporting our customers. I also really appreciate how approachable everyone is should you have a question or something you’d like to discuss.

I also really like that there are lots of opportunities for progression as I like to challenge and push myself. As a young person who is starting to build my career in the industry, it is reassuring to know that there is space to grow and develop at ForFarmers.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Exploring with Whiskey

A lot of my spare time is taken up by my three horses, who I like to take out team chasing and trail hunting throughout the winter. I’ve also got a 6-year-old brown Patterdale Terrier called Whiskey who spends every minute with me, whether on or off a horse!

I am called back to help out on the family farm from time to time, whether that be helping cart grass or feeding youngstock, and if I get the chance, I like to help out my boyfriend who is a part-time gamekeeper.
