Chase Cooling-Simpson, Key Contract & Projects Manager

Department: DML

Tell us a little about your role, how long have you been with ForFarmers?

I’ve been with ForFarmers for eight years, working my way up from production planner to my current role as Key Contracts & Projects Manager.

I’m primarily responsible for managing the contract of one of our largest co-products partners. Day-to-day my role is really varied but consists of lots of relationship management, as well as managing both internal and external stakeholders.

Why did you join ForFarmers?

Previously I was working in a small business, but I was looking for more opportunities to progress. I was initially attracted to ForFarmers because of its focus on sustainability, and because the role itself looked varied and interesting.

I don’t come from an agricultural background, but find it fascinating. I’ve enjoyed learning more about the role of co-products and their role in sustainable farming.

What does your day-to-day look like?

Every day tends to be a little different, but I spend a lot of time on the phone with customers, agents, and merchants as well as with colleagues and internal stakeholders. I sometimes describe myself as a bit of a sheepdog; I tend to spend a lot of time rounding things up, getting the right information, and putting plans into place.

What’s your favourite part of the job?

I love being part of an industry that is constantly evolving as there is always something new to learn and get to grips with. The variety that comes with my role is also great as I like to feel like I’m always challenging myself and getting out of my comfort zone. For me, it’s about striving to be the best you can be and always moving forwards.

Outside of work…

I’ve got two daughters Margot (18 months) and Lily (10 weeks) who keep me busy, but I am also training to run the Manchester marathon on the 16th April to raise money for DKMS.

Having lost a friend to an aggressive form of blood cancer last year, I wanted to carry on her campaign work and fundraise for this charity. DKMS is an international charity which recruits blood stem cell donors, provides second chances at life for those in need of a transplant, and raises funds to cover donor registration costs.

Seeing how hard my friend battled cancer really inspired me to take up the challenge of my first marathon and I really appreciate any support for this fantastic charity: Donate to DKMS
